Christopher Peter Joseph Turner
About Christopher Peter Joseph Turner
Christopher Peter Joseph Turner, known professionally as Chris Turner, is a British and American stand-up comedian and freestyle rapper born September 12, 1989, in Manchester, England. He attended Manchester Grammar School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology and Anthropology from St Hugh's College, Oxford, where he performed with the improv troupe the Oxford Imps and co-founded the British performance group Racing Minds. Turner took up freestyle rapping as a teenager after being diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that made contact sports dangerous for him. Now based in New York, he is a regular headliner at the Comedy Cellar, known for weaving disparate audience-suggested topics into improvised rap, and has drawn more than 125 million views online. He is a regular at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has performed on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and with Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. In 2025, Turner competed on the twentieth season of "America's Got Talent," where all four judges advanced him; he went on to finish as the season's runner-up behind winner Jessica Sanchez, becoming the highest-placing rap act in the show's history.
