About D. C. Benny

D. C. Benny, born Ben Wartofsky in Washington, D.C., works as a stand-up comedian in New York. His route into television ran through writing as much as performing: he wrote and starred in commercial campaigns for Comedy Central, and that work led to development deals with ABC and NBC. For NBC he created the pilot People Who Live in My Building, in which he played the whole cast of characters himself.

As a stand-up he made the top ten of the eighth season of NBC's Last Comic Standing and appeared on Comedy Central Presents. His list of opening slots includes Gilbert Gottfried, Bernie Mac, Kevin Pollak, Margaret Cho and Jeff Foxworthy.

A good deal of his work happens off camera. He was a producer and sketch writer for Jim Breuer Unleashed on Sirius radio, produced segments for Friday Night Videos and wrote for the humour magazine Cracked. In animation he created Justice Patrol, and In My Head, a pilot he worked on, won first prize at the Just For Pitching event of the Montreal comedy festival.
