About Gregg Turkington

Gregg Turkington (born November 25, 1967) is an American comedian, entertainer, actor, musician, and writer. He is best known for his performances as Neil Hamburger, an anti-comedian stand-up persona he developed in the 1990s whose character constantly clears his throat while telling off-paced jokes that mostly fail. Alongside Tim Heidecker, Turkington also stars as a fictionalized version of himself on the comedic web series On Cinema. Born in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, to American parents, he rose to prominence in the mid-1980s as the publisher of the underground zine Breakfast Without Meat and ran the independent label Amarillo Records in the early 1990s. Since 1998, the Neil Hamburger character has released numerous records on the Drag City record label. In 2015, Turkington co-wrote and starred in the feature film Entertainment, directed by Rick Alverson, and has had minor roles in the Marvel films Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
