J-L Cauvin

J-L Cauvin's working life has moved back and forth between law and comedy. Born in the Bronx, he studied at Williams College and took his law degree at Georgetown University Law Center, and he started doing stand-up while still in law school. After passing the bar in 2005 he worked as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx, and he went back to legal work as a staff attorney in 2019.

The Donald Trump impression grew out of the 2016 campaign, when he began folding it into his act, and during the 2020 election his Trump videos spread widely on social media. In 2018 he turned the same target into Make Podcasts Great Again, a satirical podcast about Trump's conduct and policies, and he later hosted the podcast Rain on Your Parade. He has been a regular guest on The Adam Carolla Show and has appeared on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz.

His stand-up is collected on a run of albums: Racial Chameleon, Too Big To Fail, Israeli Tortoise, Famous Nobody and Half-Blackface. In 2026 his political satire gave way to a real campaign, when he sought the Democratic nomination in the special election for New Jersey's 11th congressional district and lost.
