John Dela Cruz

John Dela Cruz, professionally known as Nurse John, is a Filipino-Canadian stand-up comedian and social media content creator born in Bulacan, Philippines. He moved to Canada as a teenager and trained as a registered nurse, later working at a hospital on Montreal's South Shore during the COVID-19 pandemic. While working as a nurse, he began posting comedic sketches about hospital life, and a 2021 skit referencing a colleague named Lisa went viral with more than 15 million views, launching his career as an online personality.

Dela Cruz left nursing due to burnout and relocated to Los Angeles in 2024 to pursue stand-up comedy full time. His debut stand-up tour, The Short-Staffed Tour, became an unexpected hit, selling more than 250,000 tickets across more than 200 shows, including sold-out dates in Australia, New Zealand and Europe. His comedy draws heavily on his years in healthcare, mining the exhaustion and dark humor of frontline nursing work for material that resonates with audiences inside and outside the medical field.

In 2026, Forbes included him among its Top Creators, citing his multimillion-dollar earnings and an audience of more than 19 million followers across social media. That same year, he brought his stand-up show to Manila for the first time, performing at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
