About John Franklin
John Franklin grew up in West Caldwell, New Jersey, and reached comedy by way of broadcasting. At Quinnipiac University he studied broadcast journalism and then interactive media, and before the stand-up took off he worked as a radio host at the Wentworth Institute of Technology and later as a sports reporter.
The Specialist, his special for Amazon Prime, is the work that carried his stand-up to a wide audience, and he has also taken a show called My Dad's Advice to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Reality television added a different kind of visibility: on the fourth season of the Netflix series The Circle he played the game presenting himself as his own mother.
