Katie Halper (born July 11, 1980 or 1981) is an American comedian, writer, filmmaker, podcaster, and political commentator. Born in New York City and raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, she graduated from the Dalton School and from Wesleyan University in 2003. She began her career performing as a stand-up comedian at venues including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the D.C. Comedy Festival, and is a national director of Living Liberally and co-founder of Laughing Liberally. As a filmmaker she directed documentaries including La Memoria es Vaga and Commie Camp. Halper hosts the podcast The Katie Halper Show and co-hosts the podcast Useful Idiots, which she launched in 2019 with Matt Taibbi and later co-hosted with Aaron Mate. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Nation, Jacobin, Salon, and The Guardian, among other outlets.
