About Kevin Nealon
Kevin Nealon learned stand-up while working behind a bar. Born in St. Louis in 1953, he moved west in 1977, first to San Diego and then to Los Angeles, where he tended bar at the Improv and developed his act in the same building. That apprenticeship ended with a network debut on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1984, followed by regular late-night spots.
Saturday Night Live hired him in 1986 on the recommendation of his friend Dana Carvey, and he stayed until 1995, nine seasons in all. For three of them, from 1991 to 1994, he sat at the Weekend Update desk. His characters included Mr. Subliminal, Frank Gannon and Franz, the partner of Carvey's Hans in the Hans and Franz sketches.
After leaving the show he shifted toward acting, playing Doug Wilson in Weeds and Don Burns in the sitcom Man with a Plan. He wrote the books Yes, You're Pregnant, But What About Me? and I Exaggerate: My Brushes with Fame, and in 2017 he started Hiking with Kevin, a YouTube talk show in which he walks a trail with celebrity guests and interviews them on the way.
