Lee Camp is an American stand-up comedian, writer and political satirist born on 21 July 1980 in Washington, D.C. He was raised in Bethesda, Maryland and later Richmond, Virginia, and began performing stand-up at an open mic in Richmond on his 19th birthday. He studied English and psychology at the University of Virginia, where he wrote for The Cavalier Daily, graduating in 2002. In the 2000s he toured as an opening act for comedians including Jimmy Fallon, Kevin Nealon, Tracy Morgan and Lewis Black. Camp has been a contributor to The Onion since 2009 and worked as a staff comedy writer for The Huffington Post. He is best known as the creator, writer and host of Redacted Tonight, a political comedy news show that ran for about eight years on the Russian state-funded network RT America and won multiple Telly Awards; the show ended when RT America shut down in 2022 following sanctions imposed after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Camp subsequently launched Most Censored News with Lee Camp and now writes and hosts the independent streaming show Unredacted Tonight. He co-created the Common Censored podcast with Eleanor Goldfield in 2017 and has written several books of political humor and commentary, including Moment of Clarity and Bullet Points and Punch Lines.
