About Nick Thune

Nick Thune, born Nicholas Ivan Thune on December 8, 1979, is an American actor, comedian, and musician. He was born in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in Redmond before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in stand-up. His early stand-up focused on wordplay performed while he played the guitar, which he has said served more as a prop than as a way to create musical comedy. He has performed on The Tonight Show eight times and was featured in a Comedy Central Presents special in 2007.

Thune's debut album, Thick Noon, was released on February 23, 2010, by Comedy Central Records. His first hour-long stand-up special, Nick Thune: Folk Hero, premiered on Netflix in February 2014 and was later released on CD and vinyl. His second special, Good Guy, premiered on December 22, 2016, on NBC's Seeso platform; filmed in Portland, Oregon, it marked a change in style as he no longer used his guitar throughout the performance.

On television, Thune was cast as a lead in the 2010 NBC pilot Beach Lane opposite Matthew Broderick, though it was not picked up. He guest-starred on Traffic Light, Happy Endings, and Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, and appeared as Magnus on HBO's Love Life opposite Anna Kendrick. In film, he had small roles in Knocked Up and Unaccompanied Minors, and starred in Dave Made a Maze (2017) and People You May Know.
