About Robin Tran
Robin Tran (born May 13, 1986) is an American stand-up comedian, writer, actress and producer. The daughter of Vietnamese immigrants, she was raised in Garden Grove, in Orange County, California. She began performing at open-mic nights in 2012 and came out as a transgender lesbian in 2015. Within a year she self-released a YouTube special and turned to roast battling, becoming one of the top roast battlers in Los Angeles and appearing on Jeff Ross's Comedy Central series Roast Battle. Her stand-up material draws on being transgender, autistic, and Asian American, alongside dating, online dating and identity. In 2016 she released the self-funded special Santa Doesn't Like Every Kid on YouTube, and in 2018 her first one-hour special, Don't Look at Me, was released on Hulu, Spotify and iTunes. She was named one of Just for Laughs' New Faces in 2021, and in 2023 she was a breakout performer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, receiving five-star reviews. Tran has also spoken publicly about being autistic and having ADHD.
