About Sam Hyde
Sam Hyde (born April 16, 1985) is an American comedian and a co-founder of the sketch comedy group Million Dollar Extreme (MDE), alongside Nick Rochefort and Charls Carroll. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts and raised in Wilton, Connecticut, he graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2007 with a BFA in filmmaking.
The group was founded in 2009. MDE gained notoriety on YouTube for its provocative, anti-sketch style and public pranks, and Hyde drew national attention in 2013 with a satirical TEDx talk at Drexel University. The talk was titled 2070 Paradigm Shift.
He and MDE created Million Dollar Extreme Presents: World Peace, which aired on Adult Swim in 2016 and was cancelled after one season amid criticism of its content. In 2023 he launched the interactive reality series Fishtank.
Hyde is the subject of a recurring internet hoax that falsely identifies him as the perpetrator of various mass shootings, which he has played along with.
