Sommore

Sommore (born Lori Ann Rambough on 15 May 1966) is an American comedian and actress known as the "Diva of Contemporary Comedy". Her comedic style features biting sarcasm and frank discussions about money, sex, and equality between the sexes. She first gained fame as the first female host of the long-running Black Entertainment Television (BET) stand-up showcase ComicView, and as one of the four female comedians who headlined The Queens of Comedy tour.

Sommore was raised in Trenton, New Jersey, and graduated from McCorristin Catholic High School (now Trenton Catholic Academy) in 1985, before earning a business administration degree from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. She attributes her success as a comedian to her writing skills, which she credits to the influence of her father, the poet Doughtry "Doc" Long, a writer and English teacher. Her half-sister is actress Nia Long.

She has appeared on shows including HBO's Def Comedy Jam, Showtime at the Apollo, ComicView and the Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav, and her film appearances include Friday After Next, Soul Plane, A Miami Tail and Something New. Alongside Mo'Nique, Laura Hayes and Adele Givens, she starred in The Queens of Comedy tour, which aired on Showtime. In 2008 she launched the worldwide premiere of "The Queen Stands Alone", and her 2015 special Sommore: The Reign Continues aired on Netflix in 2018. She has received the Richard Pryor Award for Comic of the Year.
