About T. Sean Shannon
T. Sean Shannon is an American comedian, writer and film director from Houston, Texas. His brother Charles Shannon, who died in 2003, was also a stand-up comedian and writer.
Writing for Saturday Night Live from 1998 to 2006, Shannon won an Emmy Award in 2002 and a WGA Award in 2001. He created the sketch Bear City, set in a town inhabited entirely by anthropomorphic bears after a meteor crash, and in July 2008 revealed he had written a Bear City film.
A joke he told during the making of the documentary The Aristocrats caused controversy and unrest at SNL; Penn Jillette refers to the incident in the film's commentary without naming the show. Shannon also directed and co-wrote the feature film Harold, released in July 2008, and moved back to the Houston area in early 2025 after eight years in New York City.
