About Tim Wilson
Timothy Collins Wilson (August 5, 1961 - February 26, 2014) was an American comedian and country music artist from Columbus, Georgia, whose act combined stand-up comedy with original comic songs. He made his teachers laugh with impressions as a child and emceed talent shows in high school, initially pursuing music and journalism before a country-music demo tape failed to lead anywhere, turning him toward comedy.
His breakthrough came through a stand-up competition with Cinemax, followed by an appearance on "The Tonight Show" during the Jay Leno era. Wilson released more than a dozen comedy albums, including several for Capitol Records Nashville, and built a following with comic country songs such as "Garth Brooks Ruined My Life" and "First Baptist Bar & Grill." He also wrote material for Jeff Foxworthy's 1996 single "Redneck 12 Days of Christmas." Wilson died of a heart attack on February 26, 2014, at age 52, survived by his wife and two children, and was posthumously inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in September 2015.
