About Victor Varnado

Victor Varnado learned his comedy in improv. In Minneapolis he played with local troupes including ComedySportz and The Bad Mamma Jammas, and it paid off on bigger stages: at the Just For Laughs Improv Championship in Montreal in 2001 he was named Most Valuable Performer, and in 2002 he took bronze in the Comedy Central Laugh Riots National Stand-Up Competition. In New York he became a regular at Chicago City Limits, a long-running improv theater where he also wrote and directed.

On screen he appeared in Julien Donkey-Boy, End of Days, The Adventures of Pluto Nash and Hacks, and he did voice work for Rat Race on PlayStation 3.

A good part of his output happens behind the camera. In 2002 he and the filmmaker Jay Stern created the Iron Mule Short Comedy Film Festival. As chief executive of Supreme Robot Pictures he produced the mini-series The Great Fantasy Debate for Penguin Random House and the comedy special event Bring Back Laughs, and he has worked on projects with Stan Lee.
