About Vince August

Vince August, born Vincent Sicari on 15 December 1966 in Hackensack, New Jersey, is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and attorney. The youngest of four children of Sicilian immigrants, he earned an accounting degree from Fordham University in 1991 and a law degree from New York Law School, where he won the Froessel Moot Court Competition. While building a solo legal practice, he moonlighted as a comedian, making his stand-up debut at Caroline's on Broadway in 1997 and later becoming a regular headliner there. In January 2008 he became a part-time municipal judge in South Hackensack, earning the nickname 'the Joking Judge'. In 2013, after a New Jersey Supreme Court hearing questioned whether he could remain both a judge and a professional entertainer, he chose to resign from the bench and continue performing while still practicing law. He has appeared as a recurring cast member on ABC's hidden-camera series 'Primetime: What Would You Do?' and has served as the warm-up comedian for 'The Daily Show', working under Jon Stewart from 2013 and full time under Trevor Noah from 2018, for whom he also opened on tour dates including the 2019 'Loud and Clear' tour.
