About Mạc Văn Khoa
Mạc Văn Khoa's first taste of comedy came at school, when in the eighth grade he was sent to perform in a school comedy competition. After secondary school he tried for the acting department of the theatre and cinema university in Hanoi and was cut in the first round, so he studied directing at an arts college in Nha Trang instead. Money was tight after that and he took labouring jobs on building sites, until he read about the auditions for Cười Xuyên Việt in 2015, signed up and went on to finish second.
The competition opened the door to acting. In early 2016 he appeared in Vợ ơi... em ở đâu?, produced by Thủy Tiên and Công Vinh, and in Phim trường ma, and he took parts in sitcoms such as Gia đình vui nhộn. Lý Hải cast him in Lật mặt 4: Nhà có khách and again in Lật mặt: 48h, and he played in the holiday comedy 30 chưa phải tết. In 2019 and 2020 he took part in Ơn giời cậu đây rồi! alongside Lâm Vỹ Dạ, and in 2019 he was nominated for a Mai Vàng award as a comic actor.
He has since moved into web series as well, playing the title role in Anh Mạc Comedy, and in 2023 he released a remix of the song Hải Dương niềm thương nhớ, produced together with DJ Prank.
