About Brendon Burns
Although he is Australian, Brendon Burns made his name almost entirely in British comedy rooms, with a loud, combative delivery and material designed to provoke. His first Edinburgh Festival Fringe came in 1996, when he hosted The Comedy Zone and performed 6pm Time To Get Up For Work. Between 2004 and 2006 he returned with a trilogy titled Burnsy versus Brendon, which took his own life as its subject.
The Fringe gave him its top prize in 2007: the if.comedy award went to So I Suppose THIS Is Offensive Now. By then he already had a television record that began on Channel 4 with The 11 O'Clock Show. He presented on ITV's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Now! and walked off after three shows, ran stand-up masterclasses for ITV and turned up in Comedy Cuts on ITV2.
Outside the clubs he has worked in several formats. Transworld published his semi-autobiographical novel Fear of Hat Loss in Las Vegas, the album Pompously Lectures Americans put a set on record, and the Dumb White Guy podcast ran from 2014 to 2019. In the wrestling film Fighting with My Family he has a cameo as a ring announcer.
