Ed Gama

Ed Gama, born Edson Gama Peixoto Neto on the twenty third of March 1990 in Maceio in the northeastern state of Alagoas, is one of the most genre crossing Brazilian comedians of his generation, a stand-up comic, actor, musician, impressionist, voice actor, screenwriter, presenter and former practising lawyer who has gradually moved his base of operations from Maceio to the Sao Paulo comedy circuit. He studied law in Alagoas and worked briefly as a lawyer before an invitation to perform a five minute open mic opening slot in his home city redirected his career: in 2009 he officially began his stand-up career alongside Murilo Gun at the long running show Tercas de Comedia Stand-up in Maceio, becoming the first Alagoan comedian to gain national recognition through the format. His career since then has been built on a constant accumulation of disciplines that feed one another. Music sustains his impressionist work, impressionist work feeds his television presenter roles, presenter roles support his stand-up tours, and the stand-up tour is now anchored in Sao Paulo, where in 2025 he became a partner of Clube do Minhoca, one of the city's traditional comedy venues, a public signal of his deepening commitment to live stand-up as the centre of his career.

Ed Gama's national breakthrough came in 2014 when he won the comedy competition Quem Chega La on Domingao Do Faustao on Rede Globo, a victory that immediately led to a contract with Globo and inclusion in the cast of the network's comedy programme Saco de Risadas. From that point his presence on Brazilian television has been continuous, with credits at Multishow, where he joined the cast of new comedy attractions, and at Rede Globo, where in 2025 he was promoted to a fixed member of the cast of Domingao Com Huck, the renamed Sunday flagship hosted by Luciano Huck. His YouTube channel, active since 2013, has built a parallel digital career focused on music parody, impressionist work and short comedy pieces. As a musician he writes and performs his own material, often using songs as the structural backbone of his stand-up sets, where he can shift between sung impressions, full musical numbers and conventional stand-up bits within the same hour. He has performed internationally in the United States, including engagements in Orlando, and tours regularly across the Brazilian states, with a particularly strong presence in the northeast where he remains one of the most recognisable figures in the regional comedy scene. His current Sao Paulo period, marked by his partnership in Clube do Minhoca and his integration into the Globo Sunday programming, signals what he himself has described as a stronger flirtation with stand-up after years of being best known as a television and online entertainer.

Within the Brazilian stand-up ecosystem, Ed Gama is one of the most distinctive performers because his work sits at the intersection of stand-up, musical comedy, impressionism and television variety in proportions that few of his peers attempt. His Alagoan origins matter to his work in concrete ways: he is a regular reference point for the northeastern stand-up scene and a model for younger Maceio based comedians, having proved that a career launched outside the Sao Paulo Rio axis can scale to national television and major theatre tours. His partnership in Clube do Minhoca in Sao Paulo gives him a stable production base in the country's biggest comedy market while keeping his identity firmly rooted in the northeast. His Sunday presence on Domingao Com Huck brings his work to one of the largest live audiences in Brazilian broadcasting and to viewers who do not necessarily follow the dedicated comedy clubs. As a public figure he generally avoids partisan political material, focusing instead on character based comedy, generational humour, music parody and observations about Brazilian regionalism, an approach that has helped him to maintain a broad ticket buying audience across very different regional and demographic segments. He continues to be one of the most actively booked Brazilian comedy performers of his cohort, with regular dates in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and across the northeast.
