Marcelo Marrom

Marcelo Marrom is a Brazilian stand-up comedian, musician, composer, writer and corporate speaker born in 1971 in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro. He is one of the most visible Black stand-up performers in mainstream Brazilian comedy, a veteran of the Sao Paulo Cia Deznecessarios humor company, of the late-night show Programa do Jo and of Globo's Altas Horas, and is today a touring headliner whose signature is mixing tight stand-up material with improvised songs made up live on stage with audience participation.

Marrom moved to Sao Paulo around age 35 to join the Cia Deznecessarios humor troupe in 2007, where his on-stage charisma caught the attention of Jo Soares, who invited him onto Programa do Jo on Globo. From there he became a regular on Globo's flagship variety show Altas Horas (Serginho Groisman) for three years, and headlined or co-hosted the Multishow stand-up programs Ta Rindo do Que? and Queimando a Roda. In January 2022 he premiered the solo stand-up O Terceiro Melhor Show de Comedia do Planeta at Sao Paulo's Clube Barbixas de Comedia, an autobiographical hour built around stories such as an African safari, a memorable night out at the actress Tata Werneck's house and the tragic dismissal from his first job. In 2023, around his 50th birthday, he launched the new stand-up A Estranha Mania de Ser Feliz. Outside of stage work he is also one of the most-booked Black motivational speakers in the Brazilian corporate-events circuit. He is publicly aligned with the 'humor without limits' position in the Brazilian free-speech-versus-comedy debate, drawing both praise and criticism for his sharp social commentary on race and on the limits of cancellation culture.

Marcelo Marrom tours intensively across Brazil with his current solo show A Estranha Mania de Ser Feliz and the touring set O Terceiro Melhor Show de Comedia do Planeta, with frequent dates in Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro and the South. Selected sets and behind-the-scenes content are posted on his Instagram (@marcelomarrom, around 300K followers) and X (@marcelomarrom), and his corporate-speaker offer is available through his official website marcelomarrom.com.br.
