Rodrigo Sant'Anna
About Rodrigo Sant'Anna
Rodrigo José Sant'Anna, known as Rodrigo Sant'Anna, is a Brazilian actor, comedian, voice actor and screenwriter born on March 31, 1981 in Rio de Janeiro. He was raised in the carioca favela Morro dos Macacos, in Vila Isabel, Zona Norte do Rio, and his work draws openly on the language and humor of Rio's suburbs and favelas. He is best known as the creator and performer of Dona Graça, the loud, irreverent mother of fourteen children in the long-running Multishow sitcom Tô de Graça, and of Valéria Vasques, the exotic, foul-mouthed character from the Zorra Total sketch Metrô Zorra Brazil, whose catchphrase Ai, como eu tô bandida became a national meme.
Rodrigo graduated from Rio's Casa das Artes de Laranjeiras (CAL), and at 24 launched the stage play Os Suburbanos with Thalita Carauta, which he wrote, directed and starred in. The play stayed in theaters for around five years and became the seed of his suburban-Rio comic universe. A guest role in A Diarista caught the attention of Renato Aragão, who cast him in A Turma do Didi, where he remained for four years. He then broke through to a mass audience as Valéria Vasques in the Metrô Zorra Brazil sketches on Globo's Zorra Total. In 2015 he launched the TV series Os Suburbanos on Multishow, followed in 2017 by Tô de Graça, the prime-time Multishow sitcom in which he plays Dona Graça, a low-income matriarch with fourteen children. The show ran on Multishow from 2017 to 2022 and, after a two-year break, returned in 2025 for its seventh season, with Sant'Anna also voicing the title role and acting as one of the head creators. He plays Dona Isadir in the Multishow sitcom A Sogra que te Pariu, has dubbed animation features and tours theaters with the live show Tô de Graça.
Rodrigo Sant'Anna's main current home is Multishow and Globoplay, where Tô de Graça (seven seasons through 2025) and A Sogra que te Pariu stream on demand. His Zorra Total sketches and older A Turma do Didi material are available on Globoplay and YouTube. He also tours Brazil with live stage versions of Tô de Graça in major cities such as Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Belo Horizonte.
