About RudiRok

Mickelsson, who works as Rudi Rok, came to comedy through his mouth rather than through a notebook. He trained on trumpet and classical guitar at the Espoo music institute and sang in the Cantores Minores boys' choir, then moved into breakdancing, competing from 2001 and teaching break and street dance in Helsinki. He won the footwork and style category at the SUBURB street art festival, and in 2005 he and three friends were invited to New York as the first Finnish breakers to perform for the founders of the form.

When the dancing stopped he put the same hours into beatboxing and joined the group Beat Warriors. After winning the Casino Talent Show in 2010 he began touring the one-man show that runs stand-up, beatboxing and ventriloquism into each other instead of taking them in turn. In January 2013 he became the first Finnish act to perform at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood. The composer J. N. Vainio wrote him a concerto for beatboxer and strings, Fujiko's fairytale, and he has published a guide to beatboxing.
