About Jonathan Cohen

Jonathan Cohen (born June 16, 1980) is a French film director, producer, and actor. He was born in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, the only child of Sephardic Jewish parents; his father was a perfume retailer and his mother a bank worker, and they divorced when he was five. He was raised in Pantin in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, and had been exposed to cinema from a young age by his cinephile rabbi grandfather, who introduced him to the work of Luchino Visconti and Jean-Paul Belmondo. At the age of 18 he abandoned his commercial management studies and took on a series of jobs before deciding to pursue acting.

Cohen took classes at the stage school les Ateliers du Sudden, founded by Raymond Acquaviva, and in 2000 enrolled at the Conservatoire national superieur d'art dramatique. He is known for co-starring in the Netflix prequel film to Army of the Dead, Army of Thieves (2021). His extensive film work includes Supercondriaque (2014), La folle histoire de Max et Leon (2016), Tout simplement noir (2020), En meme temps (2022), Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom (2023), and A Difficult Year (2023).

On television, Cohen appeared in series such as Bref and played roles including Joseph Hazan in Family Business (2019-2021). He co-created and starred as Marc in the comedy series La Flamme (2020) and its follow-up Le Flambeau: Les aventuriers de Chupacabra (2022).
