Sophie Mounicot

Sophie Mounicot is a French actress, humorist and producer, born on 6 August 1960 in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. She became known to the general public thanks to the television series Voisin, voisine, a French tele-roman of 385 episodes of 58 minutes broadcast from 19 September 1988 to 12 April 1992 on La Cinq. She is also well known thanks to the humorous series H. Born in Paris, she grew up in the 18th arrondissement and showed an early interest in theatre. After obtaining her baccalaureat, she entered the drama courses of the Cours Simon in Paris in 1979, where she trained for the profession of actress.

She began her career at the end of the 1980s. In 1989 she obtained a first film role in Deux, a comedy directed by Claude Zidi. During the 1990s she appeared in several French films, mainly comedies, while multiplying appearances on television in popular series of the time. Her fame grew from 1998, when she joined the cast of the humorous series H on Canal+, playing Clara Saulnier, head nurse of the orthopaedics department, a role she held until the series ended in 2002 and which remains her most emblematic character.

After H, she pursued a steady career across cinema, television and theatre. On television she obtained a recurring role in the police series Les Enquetes d'Eloise Rome in 2004, then appeared occasionally in many French series. In parallel she was very active in theatre, performing in several comedies and also creating solo shows from the mid-2000s. From the 2020s she diversified her activities: in 2024 she took part in the interactive fiction Sauce piquante, broadcast live on Twitch and the YouTube channel of Arte, and the same year she opened a guest house, O'Folies, in La Couarde-sur-Mer on the ile de Re.
