About Tomer Sisley

Tomer Sisley (born Tomer Gazit, 14 August 1974) is an Israeli and French actor and comedian. He was born in West Berlin, West Germany, to Israeli-born parents who had relocated because of his father's job as a research scientist in dermatology. His parents separated when he was five, and at age nine he left Berlin to live with his father in southern France. He is fluent in German, Hebrew, French and English, and attended the bilingual Centre international de Valbonne in Sophia Antipolis near Nice.

Sisley performed stand-up comedy for six years. In 2003, he was the first French stand-up comedian to win the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, Canada, the largest comedy festival in the world. In 2019, it was brought to light that he had used material taken from American comedians, and he admitted to "having copied between '20-30 per cent' of his gags."

Among his first films were the Tunisian fictional film Bedwin Hacker (2003), the comedy drama Virgil (2005) and the French action thriller Largo Winch (2008), for which he won the Most Promising Newcomer title at the Étoiles d'or French awards in 2009. In 2011, he accepted the leading part in the French thriller Sleepless Night, which Warner Brothers bought the rights to remake, and in Largo Winch II (2011) he performed a fight while skydiving from a plane without a parachute, doing all of his own stunts. He also appeared in the American comedy We're the Millers (2013), the docudrama Rabin, the Last Day (2015), and played forensic pathologist Raphaël Balthazar in the TV series Balthazar (2018-2023). He is an avid horse rider and a licensed helicopter pilot.
