About Vincent Dedienne
Vincent Dedienne, born on 2 February 1987 in Macon, is a French actor, humorist, author, stage director, columnist, singer and presenter. Trained at the Ecole nationale superieure d'art dramatique de la Comedie de Saint-Etienne where he began his career, he distinguished himself in various registers, combining classical theatre and one-man-show. Winner of the Montreux Comedy Casting in 2013, he was revealed to the general public through his columns on Canal+, on France Inter and in the program Quotidien on TMC. He is recognized for his one-man-shows S'il se passe quelque chose... and Un soir de gala, which earned him the Moliere de l'humour twice. Abandoned by his biological mother and adopted at five months by a schoolteacher and a specialized educator, he learned somewhat by chance at the age of five that he had been adopted, and said he never suffered from this information.
An only child, he spent a rather solitary childhood in Cruzille, a village of the Haut-Maconnais. Around the age of 7 he discovered his passion for theatre and the one-man-show while watching a VHS recording of a show by Muriel Robin, later declaring that he had the impression of discovering his mother tongue. He co-wrote his first show at the age of 14. He began university studies in performing arts and modern literature in Lyon while taking theatre classes at a small school, La Scene sur Saone, then studied classical theatre at the Ecole nationale superieure d'art dramatique de la Comedie de Saint-Etienne, where his meeting with Francois Rollin was decisive. He made his debut at the Comedie de Saint-Etienne in 2006.
In 2011 he began writing his show S'il se passe quelque chose..., in collaboration with Juliette Chaigneau and Melanie Le Moine, with the staging by Francois Rollin. In 2013 he won the Montreux Comedy Casting and became the third artist, after Michael Gregorio and Gaspard Proust, to be produced by Laurent Ruquier. From September 2014 he was chosen by Canal+ to succeed Stephane De Groodt in Maitena Biraben's program Le Supplement, an experience that lasted two years, and he was also present on France Inter for a weekly column. In September 2016 he joined Yann Barthes and his team in the program Quotidien on TMC, where he did a press review each Monday, leaving the program after his second season with a final column on 25 June 2018. In 2021 he returned to solo performance with the new show Un soir de gala. He is openly homosexual, a subject he addresses on stage.
