About Wally
Wally, born Lilian Derruau in Decazeville, began in a duo. In 1981 he founded Wally et Freddy with Freddy Ricci, and the pair were on the bill of the Printemps de Bourges in 1986. He went solo in 1994 with a first show called Dernières chansons avant régime.
His trademark is the chanson courte: a song of only a line or two, sung to a guitar, that tells an anecdote or lands a joke almost before it has started. The albums Vivons intensément ! and Presqu'heureux came out on Boucherie Productions in 1996 and 1998, À vendre followed in 2003 on Polydor, and in 2011 he released 99 chansons courtes seulement parce que 100 c'en aurait fait un peu trop.
On stage he has played Le Trianon in Paris and the Vingtième Théâtre, and he opened at the Olympia for Eddy Mitchell. Later shows include Deuxième démarque, Absurdités protéiformes and Buf et votz, and in 2021 he created Ma distinction, a theatrical solo in which he tells his own story.
