About Benaissa Lamroubal
Benaissa Lamroubal is a German stand-up comedian born on 20 August 1979 in Nador, Morocco, and raised in Neuss, North Rhine-Westphalia. He is one of the three founding members of the comedy collective RebellComedy, alongside Babak Ghassim and Usama Elyas, and is widely credited with developing the show's stage concept and live realization. Before turning to comedy, Benaissa was active as a rapper and producer in the 1990s, gaining early attention with the trilingual track Set Language, in which he rapped in his native Tamazight (Berber). He shifted into stand-up in 2007 after meeting Ghassim and Elyas, and the trio began organising independent comedy nights in Aachen, Düsseldorf, and Cologne, the seed of what later became one of Germany's most successful immigrant-rooted comedy brands.
Benaissa Lamroubal achieved nationwide visibility through his appearance at the RTL Comedy Grand Prix alongside Chris Tall and Luke Mockridge, which opened the door to mainstream German television. He has since performed on Quatsch Comedy Club, TV Total, Die Anstalt, and toured nationwide with NightWash and 1Live Hörsaal Comedy, two of the most important live-comedy circuits in Germany. His signature style is multilingual: he interweaves standard German with Arabic, Moroccan dialect, and Tamazight, producing what he calls language interference comedy, a technique that turns code-switching itself into a punchline. Themes recur around migration, family, religion, identity, and the contradictions of growing up Moroccan-Berber in Germany. As part of RebellComedy, he co-shapes the ensemble's mixed-format live show that has filled large theatres across the German-speaking world for over a decade, becoming a fixture of the post-2010 wave of comedians of Maghrebi and Middle Eastern descent in Germany. Benaissa Lamroubal lives in Neuss, is married, and has a daughter and a son.
Benaissa Lamroubal tours regularly as a solo headliner and as part of the RebellComedy ensemble across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. His solo programs are sold via Reservix, ADticket, and other major German ticketing platforms, and he has performed at venues such as Huxleys Neue Welt in Berlin and the Seebühne Bremen. He is active on YouTube at youtube.com/@BenaissaLamroubal, where stand-up clips and segments are posted, and on Instagram and Facebook under his real name.
