About Bülent Ceylan

Bülent Ceylan (born 4 January 1976) is a German comedian and Kabarett artist. He plays several comic roles with frequent themes being the quirks of Germans from Turkish family backgrounds and people from Mannheim, told in the dialect of Mannheim. Born in Mannheim to a Hungarian-born German mother and a Turkish father, he attended the Friedrich-Ebert elementary school and the Ludwig-Frank-Gymnasium. After his Abitur in 1995 he did an internship with the music channel VIVA and the radio station RPR1, and briefly studied philosophy and political science before quitting in favour of his stage career.

In November 2002, Ceylan started the successful comedy program Döner for one, achieving his national breakthrough. In July 2006 the premiere of his program Halb getürkt was broadcast on ZDF, and in 2007 he followed with Kebabbel net, later broadcast by RTL, which brought him the German Comedy Award in the Newcomer category and the CIVIS-Medienpreis. He celebrated the premiere of Ganz schön turbülent, for which he was awarded the German Comedy Award as best comedian in 2010, and went on to create programs including Wilde Kreatürken (2011), Haardrock (2014) and Kronk (2016).

Ceylan has appeared in numerous German TV shows such as Quatsch Comedy Club, developing his programs mainly with Roland Junghans. As an actor he played Mustafa in the series Hausmeister Krause and Jonny in the sitcom Bewegte Männer. In February 2011, Die Bülent Ceylan Show started on RTL. His awards include the Order of Merit of Baden-Württemberg and the Civis Media Prize.
