About Fatih Çevikkollu

Fatih Çevikkollu (born 16 April 1972 in Köln) is a German theatre, film and television actor, Kabarettist and author. For his first solo programme Fatihland he was awarded the Prix Pantheon Jurypreis in 2006. Of Turkish descent, Çevikkollu first worked as an actor at the D.a.S. Theater, later studied at the Hochschule Ernst Busch in Berlin and then went to the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. From 2005 he presented the stand-up comedy club No Maganda Club in Köln. On television he played the role of Murat Günaydin in Alles Atze, and he also appeared in films such as Tattoo in 2002. In the mid-1990s he was a member of the hip-hop group Shakkáh.

His first own Kleinkunst programme Fatihland, in which he ironically and humorously addresses themes from the viewpoint of an intercultural identity, is a mixture of stand-up comedy, Kabarett, rap, hip-hop and lyric poetry. In the carnival session 2008/09 he appeared as the first Büttenredner with Turkish roots at the Kölner Karneval at the Kölner Tanzbrunnen. The jury of the Prix Pantheon in 2006 saw in his genre mix proof "that good Kabarett can indeed be meaningful".

In 2008 Çevikkollu published his first book Der Moslem-TÜV together with Sheila Mysorekar. With Nach Hause he also published a short story in the German-Turkish anthology Was lebst Du? (2005), and with Der Integrator he described his "Desintegrationserfahrungen" in a satirical contribution to the collection re/visionen in 2007. In 2023 his non-fiction book Kartonwand appeared, in which he writes about growing up as the child of Turkish parents in Köln, the mental illness of his mother and the absent welcoming culture in the Bundesrepublik Deutschland of the 1970s and 1980s.
