Holger Müller (Komiker)

Holger Mueller, born 13 February 1969 in Idar-Oberstein, is a German comedian and actor best known for creating and portraying the character "Ausbilder Schmidt" (Drill Instructor Schmidt). At 17 he trained as an industrial clerk in a jewelry business, and in 1989 he completed 15 months of compulsory military service with the German Air Force, where he served as a soldiers' representative and reached the rank of Obergefreiter. It was during this service that he first developed the idea for the Ausbilder Schmidt character.

After his military service, Mueller trained as a gemologist and diamond appraiser at Bundeswehr-funded evening classes. He joined the Charles Atlas theatre group in 1989, founded the comedy troupe Les Hot Banditos in 1994, and co-founded a small cabaret venue called "Theaterchen" in Idar-Oberstein in 1997.

In 1999 he moved to Cologne, completed training at the Koeln Comedy Schule, and created the Ausbilder Schmidt character, becoming a full-time comedian in 2001. His first cinema film, "Morgen, ihr Luschen! Der Ausbilder-Schmidt-Film", was released in 2008. In summer 2009 he opened his own venue, "Sehr kleines Haus", in Pilsum, East Frisia, and in August 2010 he performed shows for German troops stationed in Afghanistan, in Mazar-i-Sharif and Kunduz.
