Jens Heinrich Claassen

Jens Heinrich Claassen is a German piano comedian, improvisation artist, and cabaret performer born in 1976 in Muenster. He has been touring as a comedian since 2004 and has lived in Muenster again since 2017, after a stretch based in Duesseldorf. Claassen combines stand-up storytelling with original songs at the piano, a format that places him in the German Musikkabarett tradition shared with artists like Bodo Wartke. He has performed for nearly two decades on stages across Germany and internationally, with regular dates on television and AIDA cruise ships, where he is a familiar audience favorite and a reliable mood-maker.

Jens Heinrich Claassen broke into the comedy scene after attending a cabaret workshop in Neuss and quickly began appearing on Germany's most important comedy stages, including NightWash, the Quatsch Comedy Club, the Kommoedchen in Duesseldorf, the Ohnsorg Theater Hamburg, the Bonn Pantheon, the Hamburg Schmidt Theater, the Wuehlmaeuse in Berlin, and the Munich Schlachthof. He has been nominated for the Prix Pantheon and is the winner of the Schleswig-Holsteinian cabaret prize Goldene Lachmoewe, the NDR Comedy Contest 2014, and finalist placings at the Bielefelder Kabarettpreis and the Luedenscheider Luesterklemme. His television work spans Quatsch Comedy Club, NightWash, and productions for WDR, NDR, SWR, and BR. Together with Bodo Wartke he co-created the English-language show The Germans are Coming, which has played at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His current touring program is Keine Ursache, with earlier programs including Damals war ich schlanker and Ich komm schon klar, both of which mix songs and storytelling around aging, midlife panic, and the small absurdities of everyday life. He has also performed the duo program Maenner am Klavier with pianist William Wahl.

Jens Heinrich Claassen is touring Germany extensively in 2026 and 2027 with his current program Keine Ursache, with dates including Schmidtchen Theater on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg, Kulturraum Auerberg in Bonn, TAS Neuss, the Zakk in Duesseldorf, and the Pantheon in Bonn.
