About Kai Kramosta
Kai Kramosta studied German and Catholic theology before turning to comedy full time, and his best-known stage work grew out of a radio character. For SWR3 he created Der Eifelhandwerker, a tradesman who talks in Eifel dialect about botched building jobs and everyday life. Renamed Handwerker Peters, or HP, the figure became his signature act.
HP first reached the stage in the programme Normal müsste das halten, followed by Das war schon vorher kaputt. Alongside the main tours come seasonal shows: Drauß' von der Baustell' komm' ich her for Christmas and Achtung: Handwerker im Urlaub for the summer. His earlier programme, from before HP, was Runde Sache, Ein Pfundskerl live.
Television appearances have taken him to ARD, WDR and SWR, and during the COVID lockdowns he kept HP going as a web series on Facebook and YouTube. He has also written books, including academic work on Karl May, and his awards include the Dattelner Kleinkunstpreis, the Koblenzer Kulturpreis and the RPR.1 Hörerpreis.
