About Klaus-Jürgen Deuser
Klaus-Jürgen Deuser, known to audiences as Knacki, comes from Kaiserslautern, and his career has been as much about giving other comedians a stage as about performing. It began in 1983, when he founded the comedy theatre group Die Niegelungen with his former school friends Ralf Günther and Wolfgang Lüchtrath.
Television came in 1993 with Hard'n'Funny, a pay TV comedy show he hosted for Premiere, recorded at the Docks club in Hamburg. In 1999 he was a regular guest on Zimmer frei! on ARD, and in 2000 he developed NightWash, a show recorded in a laundromat in Cologne. First broadcast by WDR, it was one of the first platforms to commit itself fully to stand-up. Deuser has received the Deutscher Comedypreis.
Much of his work happens off camera. He has directed and acted as dramaturge for Mario Basler, Johannes Wimmer, Rolf Schmiel and Sven Pistor, served as head coach on Star Search for SAT.1 and worked on Comedy Lab for ZDFneo. His books include How to be lustig, Stehende ältere Herren, written with Torsten Sträter, and Stagehacks.
