Konrad Stöckel

Konrad Stöckel came to comedy through magic. A magic kit caught his interest as a boy in Hamburg, and at 13 he made a guest appearance at the city's Schmidt-Theater. A book about showmen, sideshow acts and sensation artists, a gift from a mentor, pointed him to the blend that defines his act: bizarre effects and real stunts joined with comedy and trick technique.

In 1995 he received the Ken Brooke prize for the most crowd-pleasing performance, and in 1996 he became German youth champion in magic in the comedy illusion category, which was the moment he went professional. His stunts have also earned him Guinness records, one of them for clothes pegs clipped to his face.

Television came through ProSieben, where he won the Comedy Hot Shot in 2003; a year later the channel aired his own Konrad Stöckel Show. From 2017 he has presented chemistry and physics experiments with a comic twist on Luke! Die Schule und ich, and his stage work follows the same science line, from Weltwunder in 2012 and the Fat King show Happy End in 2013 to Wenn's stinkt und kracht ist's Wissenschaft. He also wrote the book Wie man mit AC/DC das Licht ausmacht.
