Markus Krebs

Markus Krebs is a German stand-up comedian born on July 26, 1970, in Duisburg-Neudorf in the Ruhr region of North Rhine-Westphalia. He started performing comedy at the age of 39, making his debut as a last-minute substitute at a newcomer comedy event organized by his brother in Dinslaken. His trademark look - a winter beanie and sunglasses worn on stage - was initially practical: he wore the beanie because it was cold, and the sunglasses to conceal a squint caused by a childhood eye operation. The look stuck and became his signature.

Markus Krebs won the RTL Comedy Grand Prix in 2011, which launched his professional career. He built his reputation as the so-called Hocker Rocker - performing seated on a barstool with a beer bottle, firing off jokes in a rapid, deadpan Ruhrpott style. His solo programs include "Literatur unter Betaubung" (his debut), "Hocker Rocker," "Permanent Panne" (which aired on RTL in September 2017), and "Pass auf - kennste den?!". In September 2018, he hosted his own RTL series "Witzearena" (six episodes). Since March 2020 he has run the podcast "Comedykation mit Markus Krebs" on YouTube and Spotify. In 2026, he is celebrating his 15-year career anniversary with a large-scale tour of 68 shows across Germany, including major venues such as Circus Krone Bau in Munich. His comedy channels working-class Ruhr identity, everyday frustrations, and rapid-fire gags delivered with deliberate pauses and dry emphasis.

Markus Krebs is currently on his 15-year anniversary tour in 2026, playing 68 shows across Germany in venues ranging from mid-sized halls to major stages. He regularly appears in the "Die besten Comedians Deutschlands" showcase, a touring arena format featuring Germany's top comedians. His YouTube channel Markus Krebs TV (142K subscribers) features stand-up clips and highlights from his live programs.
