Martin Frank
About Martin Frank
Martin Frank is a German Kabarett artist, comedian, moderator and actor born in 1992 in Hutthurm in Lower Bavaria, where he grew up on a farm with his father and a younger brother. He is one of the strongest voices of the young Bavarian generation of Kabarett, working largely in the niederbayerisch dialect and citing Monika Gruber, Gerhard Polt and Hape Kerkeling as his early role models. Kabarett is a German tradition of literary political comedy distinct from US-style stand-up, leaning on text, character and language. Frank's version pairs traditional Lower Bavarian sensibilities with a sharp millennial perspective on identity, generations and rural-urban tensions.
Frank began writing and performing at 16, then premiered his first full-length program "Ich pubertiere!" at 19. His early training was unconventional: an apprenticeship as a registrar (Standesbeamter) and church organist, then his Abitur at the BOS in Passau, followed by three years at the Schauspielschule Zerboni acting school in Munich. He picked up his first filming experience as a forensic investigator on the ZDF series "Rosenheim-Cops" and had a guest role in the ARD series "Hubert ohne Staller" in 2021. The awards list builds the case for him as a young heavyweight: Bayerischer Kabarettpreis 2018, Prix Pantheon in Bonn 2019 and the Großer Kabarettpreis in Berlin 2019. He has been a regular on the ZDF Kabarett showcase "Nuhr im Ersten" and other public-broadcasting comedy formats. Since September 2024 he has hosted his own BR Fernsehen talk show "Frank am Freitag," turning him from a stage act into one of the recognizable faces of Bavarian public-service entertainment.
Martin Frank is actively touring across Bavaria, Austria and the wider German-speaking region. Tour dates appear on his official site martinfrank-kabarett.de and on standard ticketing portals such as oeticket.com and eventim.de.
