Maxi Gstettenbauer

Maxi Gstettenbauer is a German stand-up comedian born on June 2, 1988, in Straubing, Bavaria. He moved to Cologne at age 18 with the explicit goal of becoming a comedian, and started performing stand-up around 2009. Gstettenbauer is considered one of the key figures in the development of modern German stand-up comedy, bringing a nerd-driven, personally honest style to German audiences at a time when the format was still establishing itself in the country.

Maxi Gstettenbauer's biggest international breakthrough came with his Netflix special "Nerdy by Nature" ("Nerdisch by Nature"), in which he performs observational material about first dates, his mother's Facebook habits, and farming simulation video games. He also released the self-produced TV special "Maxipedia" in 2017, for which he served as writer, director, and performer - rated 7.6 on IMDb. He has appeared on Comedy Central in "Comedy Central Presents Standup 3000" and featured on the Bavarian public broadcaster BR's Kabarett and Comedy channel. In 2022, he appeared in the MDR ensemble show "Das Gipfeltreffen." Beyond comedy, Gstettenbauer wrote the 2022 book "Meine Depression ist deine Depression," a direct and humorous guide to understanding depression for those affected and their loved ones. His touring program "Gute Zeit" ran through 2025-2026. His comedy draws on nerd culture, personal struggles, pop culture references, and themes of mental health.
