Monty Arnold

Monty Arnold, born in Mönchengladbach, found the stage early. As a teenager he performed at carnival in Eppelborn-Humes, then appeared at Kabarett evenings in jazz clubs in Saarbrücken, where he came into contact with Hanns Dieter Hüsch at Saarländischer Rundfunk. The next step was the Hamburg Kabarett scene and the Quatsch Comedy Club.

Wider recognition came with the television series Comedy Factory, and he had a part in the comedy film Der bewegte Mann. From the late 1990s the dubbing studio took a growing share of his work: he became the German voice of Tinky-Winky in Teletubbies, voiced Tony Tough in the adventure games about that character and Rufus in the Deponia series, and narrated the Dungeons games. On television he played Max in Max und Moritz, spoke the off-screen commentary for Upps! Die Pannenshow and voiced Mr. Lunt in VeggieTales. He also teaches music history and speech training, and has co-hosted a film podcast with Torben Sterner.
