About Rebecca Carrington

Rebecca Carrington is an English stand-up and music comedian known for comic performances combining cello and voice. She studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and completed a master's degree in music at Rice University in Houston, Texas, and is the daughter of conductor Simon Carrington, founder of the vocal group The King's Singers. She first performed comedy on the club circuit in the United States, winning the Mastercard Talent Search and appearing on NBC and CBS, before returning to the United Kingdom. Performing as a "music comedian" with her 18th-century cello, nicknamed Joe, she built an act around spoofs of musical genres. Her one-woman show sold out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2004 and she returned in 2005 with "Me, My Cello & I." She won the Schneestern (Snow Star) prize at Switzerland's Arosa Humorfestival, becoming the first English act and first solo woman to do so, then toured Europe as a solo comedian before forming the music-comedy duo Carrington-Brown with her husband, Colin Brown.
