About René Marik
René Marik trained as a puppeteer at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin and from 2000 to 2004 was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Theaterhaus Jena. During those years he created his best-known figure, a blind mole with a speech impediment named Maulwurfn.
The mole leads a small company of characters. Among the others are the frog Herr Günther Falkenhorst and Kalle, a brash polar bear with a Berlin accent, while his second programme, KasperPop, brought in the Hasskasper. His tour film Autschn! was released on DVD in September 2008, and in 2015 he went back on regular tour with ZeHage! Best Of+X, combining the puppets with his own guitar playing and singing.
The comedy world took notice early: he received the Cabinet-Preis in the comedy category in 2007 and the jury prize of the Prix Pantheon in 2008. In 2010 he lent his voice to the German version of the film Rapunzel, and he has written a book about his youth, Wie einmal ein Bagger auf mich fiel.
