About Salim Samatou

Salim Samatou (born 3. Juli 1996 in Nador) is a stand-up comedian and YouTuber of Moroccan-Indian descent living in Switzerland. He won the RTL Comedy Grand Prix 2016. Samatou was born in Morocco as the son of an Indian mother and a Moroccan father and moved to Mumbai at the age of eight. When he was 14 years old, he came with his parents to Germany, where he continued to grow up in Bad Kreuznach. In Germany he first attended the Hauptschule, learned the German language, transferred to the Realschule an der Heidenmauer and took his Abitur at the Wirtschaftsgymnasium.

He then studied Internationale Wirtschaftsinformatik at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, and afterwards studied Geschichte in the master's programme at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. After his victory at the RTL Comedy Grand Prix he started with the solo programme Voll Tight and was seen, among other things, in nine episodes with the RebellComedy ensemble. His current programme bears the title Cancel Culture.

Together with his RebellComedy colleague Hany Siam he published from September 2019 every Sunday the podcast Kamikaze, which already ended after 13 episodes in December 2019 because the name was legally protected. He then changed the name of the podcast to Rattenschaschlik, which was also soon changed for the same reason, and continued the podcast under the name Vitamin X with Marvin Endres and his RebellComedy colleague Alain Frei. In 2018 he won first place at Das Schwarze Schaf.
