About Sigi Zimmerschied

Siegfried 'Sigi' Zimmerschied is a German Kabarett artist, actor, director and author born on October 7, 1953 in Passau, Lower Bavaria. He is considered a giant of the Lower Bavarian cabaret scene, known for sharp, non-partisan wit, dialect-heavy delivery, remarkable mimicry and a rare command of voice imitation. Kabarett is the German tradition of literary, political comedy that leans on text, character and social analysis rather than US-style stand-up. Zimmerschied has been working in the form since the mid-1970s and remains one of its most distinctive Bavarian voices.

In 1975 Zimmerschied co-founded the Passau Kabarett group 'Die Verhohnepeopler' together with Bruno Jonas. Their debut piece 'Himmelskonferenz,' featuring a resigned God deposed by the archangel Michael, caused a public scandal and led to a blasphemy trial from which Zimmerschied was acquitted. His first solo program 'Zwischenmenschen' followed in 1976. He won the German Kleinkunstpreis in the Kabarett category in 1980, the Ernst-Hoferichter-Preis in 1984 and the Berlin Wecker cabaret prize a year later. His long string of solo programs includes 'Betondeppen' (1986), 'Ausschwitzen' (1990), 'Maskenball' (2021), 'Dopplerleben' (2023) and his current show 'KEIN THEMA - Eine deutsche Antwort' (2025). Alongside the stage work he has built a film career with roles in 'Peppermint Frieden' (1983) opposite Peter Fonda, 'Der wilde Clown' and 'Himmelsheim,' and he is part of the ensemble of the Residenztheater in Munich. He continues to live and work between Passau and Munich.

Sigi Zimmerschied is actively touring with his solo program 'KEIN THEMA - Eine deutsche Antwort,' which premiered in 2025 and is scheduled across Germany and Austria into 2026. Confirmed dates include the ARGEkultur in Salzburg in December 2025 and the Waitzinger Keller in Miesbach in January 2026, with further appearances booked across Bavaria. He also continues to appear at the Residenztheater in Munich.
