Usama Elyas

Usama Elyas (born 2. Juli 1981 in Aachen) is a stand-up comedian known under the stage name Ususmango as well as a co-founder of the comedy ensemble RebellComedy. Ususmango is the son of the Saudi-Arabian Islamwissenschaftler and physician Nadeem Elyas and grew up in Eschweiler. There he completed his Abitur at the Bischöfliche Liebfrauenschule. He then began at the FH Aachen the study of visuelle Kommunikation and concluded it with his conceptual Diplomarbeit on the topic of comedy with the title Fladenbrot.

With Babak Ghassim he founded, in accordance with this template, in 2006 RebellComedy, because both could not identify with any existing comedy format in Germany. There followed an own RebellComedy television series on WDR and several TV appearances, among others at Pussyterror TV, TV Total and Nightwash. Ususmango tours solo as well as annually with RebellComedy through all of Germany.

Furthermore, Hinter uns mein Land by Babak Ghassim and Usama Elyas is the most media-known poem in Germany after Jan Böhmermann's Schmähgedicht about the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The RebellComedy television series ran on WDR across four seasons from 2014 to 2019.
