About Al-Gharati Magyed
Al-Gharati Magyed was 18 when he entered Humortechnikum, the national talent contest the Stand Up Comedy Humortársulat ran for secondary school pupils under 20, and in 2013 he won it. The win made him a member of the troupe, which had earlier worked under the name KOmédia Stúdió Humortársulat, and he has remained one of its regular performers.
A lot of his act comes from living between two cultures. His family's daily life blends Arab and Hungarian customs, and that blend is a frequent subject of his jokes on stage. Born in Pécs, he grew up in Dombóvár, where the family moved when he was small.
In 2015 he was named ambassador of Humortechnikum and signed with the in-house production arm of RTL. His first spot on Showder Klub, on 16 November 2015, made him the youngest comedian to debut on the programme up to that point. When Humortechnikum returned in 2020, he became its permanent host, as the contest's first winner and its ambassador.
