About Ali Akbar
Ali Akbar, born Muhammad Ali Akbar in Ternate in 1996, took up stand-up in 2015 and built his profile through the televised talent competitions. He was a contestant in the third season of Stand Up Comedy Academy, and his longer run came on Stand Up Comedy Indonesia, whose ninth season, shown on Kompas TV in 2021, ended with him as runner-up.
What sets him apart on stage is the voice: he delivers his material in the Maluku accent of the islands he comes from, and that accent is as much a part of the act as the jokes. He studied at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta.
