Meni Ozeri

Ozeri came to comedy sideways. After his military service he signed up to study accountancy and started appearing at the Camel Comedy Club as a hobby, then went out as the warm-up act for Uri Hezkiya.

What broke him out was a lip-sync video shot on his own phone in 2010, set to Bambole by the Gipsy Kings and unbothered by how bad the picture was. From that year he ran a show of his own. His stand-up is unusually clean for the form, with no obscenity and no baiting of the audience, and the weight sits on delivery rather than on the shock of a line: mimicry, silly voices, held pauses and improvisation carry the act. He keeps his best known pieces, among them Shalom, shmi Pnina, for the end of a set, so the room can call for the ones it wants.

Israeli television introduced him in 2011 on the programme Kablu Otam, he later sat on the panel of Stand-Up Nation on Reshet 13, and he took a part in the comedy series Haverim Shel Naor.
