Adrián García Uribe

Adrián Uribe spent his first working years in theatre, not television. He trained as an actor at the Instituto Arte Escénico de Miguel Córcega, played with independent companies and took roles in stage productions such as the musical Peter Pan. One of his best-known characters, Poncho Aurelio, took shape while he worked as a clown at the restaurant El Mesón del Caballo Bayo in the State of Mexico.

That clown was his ticket to television. Poncho Aurelio appeared on the morning programme Un Nuevo Día and then on Humor es... Los Comediantes, where Uribe played him from 2000. On La hora pico, which ran until 2007, he was part of the core cast with Consuelo Duval and filled the show with characters, El Vítor and Carmelo among them. El Vítor outlived the programme: Uribe has hosted the game show 100 mexicanos dijeron in character and brought him back as the lead of the series Nosotros los guapos.

The physical, character-based comedy of those years carried over into drama and film. He played Ezequiel in the telenovela Alma de hierro, shared the lead as Johnny in Mi corazón es tuyo, headed the cast of Como tú no hay 2 and did voice work for the Garfield films and The Angry Birds Movie. On ¿Quién es la máscara? he moved from the panel to the host's seat.
