About Robert Gustafsson

Carl Robert Olof Gustafsson (born 20 December 1964) is a Swedish actor, comedian, screenwriter, singer and member of Killinggaenget. He is occasionally referred to as the funniest man in Sweden. He was born in Katrineholm to upholsterer and furniture salesman Olof Gustafsson and housewife Inger Gustafsson, and the family relocated to Skoevde when Robert was around six years old.

Gustafsson's interest in comedy began early. With his school friend Niclas Jensen he prepared funny sketches for a regular Thursday school period that became known as "Robert & Niclas", and the two recorded amateur films with a Super 8 camera. Their school revues grew so popular that the municipal Culture and Leisure Committee provided a tour bus so they could perform all over Skoevde, even at the City Theatre. In 1978, shortly after the local radio station P4 Skaraborg started up, the pair got their own humour show called "Mick" and became Sweden's youngest radio producers. At age 14 Gustafsson made his first stage performance before a paying audience in Skaraborgsrevyn.

He studied at the Gothenburg Theatre Academy. Earlier in life he was also an avid cyclist, competing in road racing from 1975 to 1981, and after school he completed military service as a squad leader at the Skaraborg regiment before working as an audio engineer in Skoevde. His honours include the Karamelodiktstipendiet, multiple Guldmasken awards, the Karl Gerhards Hederspris and a Guldbagge Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
